Health Insurance - What you need to know
Valeo’s goal is to provide you with the highest quality of care at the lowest possible cost.
Valeo does not bill your insurance directly for your Valeo services.
If you indicate on your Intake Form that you plan to submit your receipts to your insurance provider for reimbursement, then:
Valeo will provide you a superbill - an invoice that includes the service, service code, date of service, provider’s name, provider’s credentials, fee amount, and a diagnosis, if warranted.
Please note, some insurance providers require a diagnosis to reimburse, and others do not. Some services are reimbursed, and others are not.
Your counselor will discuss with you whether or not you qualify for a diagnosis and if so, what it is.
You are responsible to pay the invoice to Valeo upon receipt, and then you can send the superbill to your insurance provider and ask for reimbursement for an out-of-network provider.
If you do not indicate that you plan to submit your receipts to your insurance provider for reimbursement, then your counselor is not likely to provide you with a formal diagnosis. If you are meeting with one of our psychiatrists, then you are likely to receive a diagnosis.
Valeo cannot predict whether or not your insurance provider will reimburse you for services.
We understand that dealing with insurance companies can be frustrating, time-consuming, and can lead to different results when speaking with different representatives. Unfortunately, Valeo does not employ enough administrative staff to communicate with your insurance provider (calls, emails, paperwork, etc.) on your behalf or assist you with receiving insurance reimbursements in any way other than providing you with an accurate superbill.
Tips if you are having difficulty getting reimbursed:
Ask your benefits manager with your sending organization to negotiate with the insurance company to automatically reimburse for any invoice that you send from Valeo so that you can use the benefit of the insurance policy that you are already paying for.
Persistently contact your insurance company to see if their inconsistency in reimbursement policy can work to your favor, or ask them for other options to get reimbursed.
If you are tired of dealing with your insurance company and would like additional financial help to pay for your services with Valeo, you can apply online for the Mary Jo Livingston Scholarship. If awarded, your scholarship amount will be automatically applied to your future invoices.
